About the Opportunity
This is a unique opportunity to join the organising team behind Phnom Penh Contemporary, Cambodia’s first international contemporary art fair.
Hosted at the prestigious Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), Phnom Penh Contemporary brings together artists, collectors, diplomats, cultural institutions, business leaders and international partners for a five-day event designed to position Cambodia as an emerging centre for contemporary art in Southeast Asia.
Interns will work directly alongside the event management team supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of this landmark cultural event while gaining practical experience in arts administration, stakeholder management, event operations and cultural programming.
The project actively promotes emerging Cambodian artists, indigenous artistic communities and female voices in contemporary art while creating opportunities for international cultural exchange.
What You Will Be Doing
Responsibilities may include:
- Assisting with event planning and logistics
- Coordinating artist communications
- Supporting sponsor and partner engagement
- Managing guest registration and VIP experiences
- Supporting exhibition operations
- Assisting with public programming and artist talks
- Coordinating volunteers and student participants
- Supporting social media and communications activities
- Assisting with event documentation and reporting
- Working with international stakeholders, sponsors and cultural institutions
As the event approaches, interns will play a key role in delivering activities including opening ceremonies, VIP previews, collector events, artist talks, public programmes, performances and cultural networking events.
Work Environment

Interns will gain exposure to both the operational and strategic sides of managing a major international arts event.
Cultural Exchange & RUFA Partnership
Each participant will be paired with students from the Royal University of Fine Arts (RUFA), Phnom Penh’s leading arts institution.
This partnership creates opportunities for cultural exchange, collaboration and professional networking while providing insight into Cambodia’s rapidly developing contemporary arts sector.
Participants will work alongside Cambodian students involved in the organisation and delivery of the fair, creating a truly international working environment.
